Chuck Xander, Embedded Veteran Counselor
In Fall 2023, IVETS welcomed our first embedded Veteran and military-connected counselor. Chuck Xander joins the team with over 20 years of mental health counseling experience.
Chuck is an empathetic counselor with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with over twenty years in the mental health field. As a combat veteran, deploying to Iraq in 2003-04, and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Chuck has personal, and a professional knowledge of military life and civilian life and the difficulties military connected students endure.
Chuck attended William Penn University on a football scholarship and received his bachelor's degree with a double major and double minor all in the Human Services field. Chuck then attended University of Northern Iowa and received a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. Chuck specializes in PTSD (including military, sexual, and complex trauma) grief, anxiety, depression, communication skills and couples therapy by providing compassionate care and practical solutions that improve the quality of life for military connected students and their families.
