Austin Rogers, President
Program(s) of Study: Enterprise Leadership
Fun Fact: Pretty killer chainsaw/motorcycle impression
Austin is an Enterprise Leadership major with a pretty killer chainsaw/motorcycle impression. Before coming to UIowa Austin served 6 and a half years Active Army, and after leaving active duty he continues to serve in the National Guard along with being a full-time student.
Austin joined the club to help create a welcome environment for student veterans and military connected students so they can have a home. What excites him most about the upcoming school year is the chance to take last years good and bads and deliver the best product we can!
Madison Kelly, Vice President & Veteran Senator
Program(s) of Study: Criminology, Law and Justice, pre-law track
Fun Fact: Madison loves kayaking and reading.
Madison is a 2nd Year Student Studying Criminology, Law & Justice on the pre-law track. She is also perusing a psychology minor. When she is not in school, Madison loves kayaking & reading. Another fun fact is that she joined the National Guard at 17.
Madison decided to become part of the UIVA because of the amazing atmosphere and great people. As she puts it, “I felt as if I’d found a second home within College.”
Thomas Lutz, Treasurer
Program(s) of Study: Chemical Engineering
Fun Fact: Enjoys Billiards, books, philosophy, and photography.
Thomas Lutz is a second year Chemical Engineering student. Thomas has been a part of the UIVA for a year and this semester he decided to push what he can do for you and this organization by becoming the UIVA Treasurer.
Thomas leans heavily into the sciences and likes to help teach Math and Chemistry. If you need to make a sixty foot by forty foot "I" with 6424 tiny flags.. he is your guy. As Treasurer, veteran and a student he an expert in filing all sorts of documents with the University so if you need something say something!
If you see Thomas around, say hello. He enjoys billiards, books, philosophy and photography. As Treasurer of the UIVA he hopes to plan events that are fun, free and stress-relieving during our tenuous times of college.
Lauren Haefs, Communications
Program(s) of Study: Environmental Policy major with a minor in Military Studies and a Sustainability Certificate.
Fun Fact: Loves surfing and snowboarding.
Lauren is a 3rd year pursuing an Environmental Policy major with a minor in Military Studies and a Sustainability Certificate. This is her second year as the communications director and she is living for it.
When she is not hanging out with her friends at the UIVA, Lauren can be found exercising with the running club or the triathlon club. She also loves hiking and exploring outside- especially at McBride State Park where she interns at the Iowa Raptor Center! Her favorite parts of the UIVA are the yearly ruck march and getting to know everyone in the VMC community :))
Molly Lihs, Secretary
Program(s) of Study: Political Science and English, with a minor in International Relations
Fun Fact: Molly works at Iowa Law.
Molly is a junior double-majoring in Political Science and English with a minor in International Relations. She enjoys reading, anything green, all kinds of music, traveling, The Big Bang Theory, and eating more fettuccine alfredo than humanly possible. A fun fact about her is that she works for Iowa Law!
Molly came to Calvin Hall because her sister (UIVA president, Morgan Lihs) told her that she could get free coffee and printing there. She ended up meeting the most fantastic people and loved working with other UIVA members, and now she spends all her time between classes there! Her advice to people thinking about getting involved is to come to UIVA meetings, as well as events/activities! We love when new people come to Calvin and we can’t wait to get to know you!
