Please come to the Iowa Veteran Education, Transition, and Support (IVETS) office on the 2nd floor of Calvin Hall or email us at and let us help you determine which type of education benefit is right for you.

There are several varieties of education benefits. Your usage of one may take away eligibility for other programs.

Applying for Benefits

Once you complete your application, the VA will issue you a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) that shows the educational benefits to which you are entitled. You will need to deliver this to the IVETS office (paper copy, attach online to the Veterans Worksheet, or email to

Transfer students and returning students need only notify the IVETS office to reenroll in benefits.

Fill out the Veteran Worksheet to let us know that you are receiving benefits.

This sheet must be filled out once each calendar year in which you are a student to notify IVETS to ask the VA for your payment. 


As part of the orientation process, you will attend a session with IVETS so we can introduce ourselves and let you know about the services available to you at Iowa. After orientation, please fill out this Intake Form. It gives you a place to tell us what resources and services you are interested in hearing more about, and lets us know what kind of programming to put on based on the makeup of our Veteran and Military-Connected (VMC) cohort.
