Captain Curtis A. Feder

Biography

CPT Curtis A. Feder hails from Hartland, Wisconsin and commissioned in 2013 through the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities ROTC program where he was a 4-year National Scholarship Recipient.  

After completing Field Artillery BOLC and Joint Fires Observer training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, CPT Feder reported to 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. He served as a Troop Fire Support Officer in 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment and a Platoon Leader in 1st Battalion, 41st Field Artillery Regiment. During these assignments, he deployed twice to Europe in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve conducting joint training exercises in Bulgaria, Germany, Poland, and Lithuania.

In 2017, CPT Feder reported to Hunter Army Airfield and served as the Squadron Assistant Operations Officer for 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade during a deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel (OFS).​ Following redeployment, he attended the Field Artillery Captains Career Course. After graduation, he reported to 1st Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York and was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment.

While at Fort Drum, CPT Feder served as the Battalion Fire Support Officer for 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment and later commanded Bravo Battery, 3rd Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel (OFS) in 2020.

CPT Feder has a Bachelor’s Degree in History and a Master’s of Science in Management, Strategy, and Leadership from the Eli Broad School of Business (Michigan State University). His military education includes the Joint Firepower Course (Distinguished Graduate), CENTCOM Collateral Damage Estimation Course, Rappel Master Course, and Air Assault Course. His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal w/ “R” Device.

CPT Feder has been married to his wife Chelsey since 2013 and their only child Theodore was born in 2021.
